Common questions

Why does Locatale need Always location access?

Visit detection runs in the background, so iOS needs Always permission to notice arrivals and departures while the app is closed. Without it, visits can only be recorded while the app is open.

Why is a visit missing, or showing up late?

Locatale relies on iOS to notice when you arrive and leave, and iOS makes that call from battery, signal, and how you move. Most visits appear shortly after you leave a place. Sometimes one arrives later, when you reach your next stop, and a brief stop can slip through entirely. Anything the day is missing, you can add in a tap with the ⊕ button on the timeline. Places you return to fare better: once Locatale has seen you stop somewhere a few times, a weak-signal visit there is kept rather than discarded.

Locatale picked the wrong place for a visit.

Open the visit and tap "Change place". Locatale records the correction and favors the place you picked the next time you stop at that spot, so the same wrong guess stops recurring.

Does my data leave the device?

No. Visits, places, and tags live on your iPhone. If you turn on iCloud sync, the data syncs through your private iCloud account, which Locatale cannot read. See the privacy page for details.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Locatale.
